    Form 1099-C

If you received Form 1099-C (Cancellation of Debt), you are not required to take any additional action with this form with Nelnet. We sent you this form because the U.S. Department of Education discharged your federal student loan(s). The discharged loan amount will be reported to the Internal Revenue Service and may be considered income when you file your federal tax return. For more information, see the “Instructions for Debtor” on the 1099-C form, contact a tax professional, or go to IRS.gov. If you need another copy of your 1099-C form, you may obtain one by logging into your TPD account or creating an account now.
